About Me

The soprano Lena Geiger studied voice with Prof. Regina Kabis-Elsner at the University of Music Freiburg, graduating with distinction. Supported by the Baden-Württemberg Foundation, she also studied at the Conservatorium of Music in Sydney with Robyn Wells. She received further artistic inspiration from KS Camilla Nylund, KS Brigitte Fassbaender, KS Dorothea Röschmann, Prof. Christian Elsner, Prof. Christiane Libor, as well as through the “Opera Excellence Lab” led by Hedwig Fassbender.

This year, she was awarded Third Prize at the Anneliese Rothenberger Competition. In summer 2025, she will appear as Rosalinde in Die Fledermaus by Johann Strauss at the Weikersheim Festival. A guest engagement at the Oper Köln will follow, where she will perform the role of Agathe in a children’s adaptation of Der Freischütz. As a freelance collaborator with the WDR Radio Choir, she will also continue to pursue her passion for ensemble singing.

Lena has gained stage experience in roles such as Agathe (Der Freischütz, Schlossfestspiele Ettlingen), Rita (Rita, Rathausoper Konstanz), Suor Genovieffa (Suor Angelica, Christuskirche Freiburg), Fiordiligi (Così fan tutte), La Fée (Viardot’s Cendrillon), and Polly (The Threepenny Opera). These performances took place as part of university productions at the University of Music Freiburg, often in collaboration with the Theater Freiburg.

  • “Lena Geiger’s Fiordiligi reaches an interpretive level that effortlessly meets the demands of today’s professional theatre. In her two major arias, ‘Come scoglio’ and ‘Per pietà’, her strong, well-supported soprano reveals exceptional agility while remaining consistently powerful and flexible.”

    Alexander Dick, Badischen Zeitung

  • “The vocal highlight of the evening was the excerpt from Weber’s Der Freischütz. […] With Agathe’s aria, Lena Geiger left little to be desired. This was truly worthy of a state theater stage—Weber singing at its finest.”

    Manfred Kraft, BNN Ettlingen

  • "Astor Piazzolla’s Ave Maria was marked by deep emotionality. Lena Geiger’s soprano and the subtle piano accompaniment by Gretel Wyneken complemented each other perfectly. Alongside the choir and the orchestra with bandoneon, Lena Geiger delivered an outstanding performance. A first highlight was the luminous soprano solo... and time and again, Lena Geiger impressed with her adaptable timbre and her sensitivity to the text."

    Bianca Flier, Badischen Zeitung

  • “A first highlight was the debut appearance of soloist Lena Geiger... Her performance of ‘Je dis que rien’ from Carmen was heartfelt, expressive, and vocally flawless; one could quite literally feel, through her voice and expression, a prayerful plea to God amidst the mountains.” “In Charles Gounod’s ‘Jewel Song’ from Faust, Lena Geiger once again impressed with a flawless vocal performance, her facial expressions and gestures clearly revealing the joy and sheer delight she takes in singing.”
