About
Lena Geiger, Soprano, studied voice with Prof. Regina Kabis-Elsner at the University of Music Freiburg, graduating with distinction. She is currently pursuing her master’s degree, receiving further artistic inspiration from Julia Rempe. Supported by the Baden-Württemberg Foundation, she spent a semester abroad at the renowned Sydney Conservatorium of Music, where she studied with Robyn Wells. In addition to her artistic training, she completed a Bachelor of Education in Music and Biology at the University of Music Freiburg and the Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg.
In 2025, Lena was awarded Third Prize at the Anneliese Rothenberger Competition, and in 2024 she was a finalist in the German National Singing Competition. She has received scholarships from the Baden-Württemberg Foundation and the Mentorship Program for Outstanding Female Musicians, which enabled a close artistic collaboration with her mentor, the acclaimed Kammersängerin Camilla Nylund. Further artistic input came from masterclasses with KS Brigitte Fassbaender, KS Dorothea Röschmann, KS Christa Mayer, Prof. Hedwig Fassbender, Prof. Christiane Libor, and Prof. Christian Elsner.
In summer 2025, Lena will appear as Rosalinde in Die Fledermaus by Johann Strauss at the Weikersheim Festival, under the baton of Dirk Kaftan and directed by Dominik Wilgenbus. A guest engagement at the Cologne Opera will follow, where she will sing Agathe in a children’s adaptation of Der Freischütz. As a freelance ensemble member of the WDR Radio Choir, she will continue to pursue her passion for ensemble singing. She also appeared with the Opera Academy Baden-Baden in a jubilee concert with the Philharmonic Orchestra Baden-Baden, conducted by Ulrich Wagner.
Recent operatic roles include Fiordiligi in Mozart’s Così fan tutte (University of Music Freiburg, conducted by Marius Stieghorst, staged by Alexander Schulin), Suor Genovieffa in Puccini’s Suor Angelica (Christuskirche Freiburg, conducted by Lars Schwarze & Martina Jäger), Agathe in Weber’s Der Freischütz (Schlossfestspiele Ettlingen, conducted by Ulrich Cornelius Maier, staged by Solvejg Bauer), Rita in Donizetti’s Rita (Festspiele Konstanz, conducted by Eckart Manke, staged by Roberto Gionfriddo), and La Fée in Viardot’s Cendrillon (Theater Freiburg, conducted by Neil Beardmore, staged by Alexander Schulin).
In concert repertoire, Lena Geiger is especially at home in the Classical and Romantic works, including Mozart’s Requiem, Haydn’s The Creation and The Seasons, Mendelssohn’s Lobgesang, and Brahms’ Ein deutsches Requiem. She has appeared as a soloist with conductors such as Frank Markowitsch, Morten Schuldt-Jensen, Jens-Martin Ludwig, and Joss Reinicke, and performed with ensembles including the Philharmonie Baden-Baden, Bodensee Philharmonie, and the German National Youth Orchestra. Under Morten Schuldt-Jensen, she participated in a CD recording with the Chamber Choir of the University of Music Freiburg: Motets – from Heinrich Schütz to Fritz Werner.
In addition to her work as an opera and concert soloist, Lena Geiger is also active in art song and crossover projects. Her comprehensive musical training—including experience in jazz and musical theater, choral conducting, and instrumental studies in piano, oboe, and double bass—shapes her artistic profile and gives her work a distinctive versatility.
